Domenica…Mercato Monti!

Apro gli occhi, il sole è alto ed il cielo azzurrissimo; silenzio intorno…è Domenica! Una di quelle lente e annoiate, ho tante idee in testa e la voglia di farle sembra annegata nel latte e caffè. Oggi mi sento un bradipo stanco! Oggi devo rientrare a Roma, non mi va! Mi trilla il telefono guardo e c’è il promemoria “Mercato Monti!”. “Caspiterina, è vero!”, avevo deciso che sarei andata cascasse il mondo! In un battibaleno mi lavo, finisco la valigia (sono rapidissima nel farla…vivo con la valigia da quando ho 14 anni!) mi infilo un vestito fresco e i mega occhiali da sole che ti coprono così tanto il viso che non hai bisogno di truccarti! Sono pronta! I open my eyes, the sun is high and the sky is blue; the silence is all around … it’s Sunday! One of those Sunday slow and bored, I have so many ideas in my head but the desire to make them seem drowned in my milk and coffee. Today I feel tired like a sloth! Today I must return to Rome, I’m not going! I look at the phone, it’s trilling and there is the reminder “Monti market.” “OMG, it’s true!”. I decided that I would go even if there were the end of the world! In no time I wash myself, I get the suitcase (I’m very fast in doing it … I live with my suitcase since I was 14 years old!) I put on a fresh dress and extrasize sunglasses that cover your face so you do not need to wear any makeup! I’m ready!

Alle 3 varchiamo la soglia del Mercato Monti, il sole brucia addosso e solo l’ombra dell’edificio è gradevole. Appena entrati la differenza di luminosità è talmente tanta che sembra non ci sia nulla (in realtà non ci vedevo proprio!); ma appena gli occhi si abituano alla luce elettrica una miriade di oggetti, di banchetti e di persone appare, come per magia! Il mercato è un po’ un posto magico, tutti sono garbati, ci si scambiano chiacchiere con sconosciuti, tutto sembra più semplice. Ed è così che mi sono ritrovata a chiacchierare dei rullini delle polaroid con i simpaticissimi artigiani di …che oltre a delle magliette strepitose esponevano una collezione di macchinette fotografiche vintage; ho ritrovato uno degli espositori riconoscendone lo stile e tante chiacchiere anche con lui! Eccoli qui…poi c’era chi vendeva prodotti per cani e gatti e mi hanno fatto venire voglia di adottarne uno solo per la gioia di poter acquistare qualche manufatto, abiti cuciti a mano per bambini , cotumi handmade, monili in plexiglass, occhiali vintage e poi tanta allegria e buona musica! But as soon as the eyes adjust to the electric light a myriad of objects, banquets and people appears as if by magic! The market is a bit a magical place, all are polite, we will exchange small talk with strangers, everything seems easier. And that is how I found myself chatting about the polaroid rolls with two of the craftsmen… that in addition to the amazing t-shirts exhibited  they have a collection of vintage cameras, I found one of the exhibitors recognizing him from the style and I remembered that last year I bought a pair of earings from him! There were those who sold products for dogs and cats handmade and they made ​​me want to take one just for the joy of being able to buy something, there where clothes for children, beachwear handmade, jewelry in plexiglass,  vintage glasses and then lots of fun and good music!
